Bonding can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained, or have spaces between them. With bonding, tooth-colored materials are applied, or bonded, to the tooth surface.

The advantages of using composite bonding is that: 1) less tooth needs to be drilled down, 2) bonding procedures can oftentimes be done in only one visit, and 3) bonding is lower cost than porcelain veneers that require a lab fee to make the porcelain veneers that are designed to fit exactly to your tooth or teeth.

Materials used for bonding procedures while less expensive don’t last as long. It’s a matter of opinion on what looks more natural, bonding or veneers. Veneers use porcelain which is more tooth-like and has better translucency. Bonding material, while easy to match to the tooth’s natural color, is less translucent and natural-looking.
