Emergency Dental Care

Emergency Dental Care

Many dental problems do not have to be treated right away. However, there are some problems that have to be treated right away, or one risks developing serious complications. There are a number of problems that warrant the need for emergency dental care.

Facial Swelling

A serious dental infection can cause your face to swell. You will need to see a 247 dentist if your face starts to swell up. These types of conditions typically do not go away on their own. The infection can also spread to other parts of your body.

Knocked out Tooth

You should visit an all hours dentist if you have a knocked out tooth. In many cases, the knocked out tooth can be reattached if one gets emergency dental care. You will need to handle the knocked out tooth with care until you can get to the dentist. You will need to pick the tooth up by its crown. Avoid touching the root because this can damage the tissue.

You should try to put the tooth back in the socket. If you are unable to put the tooth in the socket, then you can put it in milk.

Severe Pain

It is easy to ignore mild tooth pain. However, if you have severe tooth pain, then you will need to see an all hours dentist. Severe tooth pain can be an indication of an abscess. If an abcessed tooth is not drained, then it can cause the nerves that surround the tooth to die. It can also put you at risk for developing gum disease.

Chipped or Broken Tooth

A 247 dentist should be called if you have a chipped or broken tooth. A filling can be used on a cracked tooth. However, if the tooth is broken, then you will need a crown. A severely broken tooth may need to be extracted. A crown and implant can be used to replace a missing tooth.

Mouth Bleeding

There are several things that can cause mouth bleeding. It is usually an indication of a chronic or acute medical condition. If you bleed after you brush or floss, then you may have gum disease. It could also be a sign of cancer. Tongue biting and recent extractions can also cause mouth bleeding.

It is not normal to bleed from the mouth. If you are unable to stop the bleeding, then you will definitely need to see an emergency dentist.
